State criminal law, verified against official sources

A national collection of state-specific criminal-law references. Each state library publishes the criminal statutes in force, the charges they define, penalty classifications, and the legal concepts the statutes themselves define, labeled with the legislative session they are current through.

Alongside the reference, a directory of the criminal-defense firms that practice in each county — with a verification layer, so you can tell which firms have had their bar license and standing checked and are confirmed to primarily practice criminal defense.

How this reference is verified

Every legal assertion is recorded with the statutory provisions that support it and the sources used to check it. Penalty figures are published only from structured records tied to the statute that imposes them. Facts that cannot be verified are not asserted.

This reference is informational and is not legal advice.
