In New Jersey criminal law, “Electronic means” is a term defined by statute rather than by its everyday meaning. Its statutory definition — quoted verbatim below — controls how the term is applied throughout the New Jersey criminal code.

What does “Electronic means” mean in New Jersey criminal law?

"Electronic means" includes, but is not limited to, the Internet, which shall have the meaning set forth in N.J.S.2C:24-4. "Structure" means any building, room, ship, vessel or airplane and also means any place adapted for overnight accommodation of persons, or for carrying on business therein, whether or not a person is actually present. c. (N.J.S.A. 2C:13-6)
