What does “Formal referral” mean in Utah criminal law?
"Formal referral" means a written report from a peace officer, or other person, informing the juvenile court that: (11)(a) an offense committed by a minor is, or appears to be, within the juvenile court's jurisdiction; and (11)(b) the minor's case must be reviewed by a juvenile probation officer or a prosecuting attorney. (Utah Code Ann. § 80-6-102)
